Introduction
There are two primary styling capabilities for your styled tables:
Table styles
Cell styles and formatting
This article will be a review of the features and controls available within the cell styling and formatting settings. It will be a high-level review of the formatting options, with some extra details on a few highlighted options.
Selecting a cell, row, column or range
When you click on a cell you will see it highlighted, which allows you to change different formatting options for that single cell.
You can also choose to 'Select Row' or 'Select Column' which will allow you to apply those formatting options to the entire row or column.
You can also select a range of cells by clicking into a cell, then holding down your shift key and selecting a second cell. The range of cells will be selected.
After your selection of cells, row, column or range, a new menu will show in the right hand panel. The options you have here include:
Font Family
Font Size
Font Color
Background Color
Column Minimum Width (px)
Truncate Text (checkbox)
Alignment
Dollar formatting
Percentage formatting
Decimal formatting
Font style
Thousands formatting
Millions formatting
Remove Row
Remove Column
Freeze Row
Freeze Column
Column Minimum Width (px)
When you use this option, it will change the width of the chosen column to the settings you enter. It is important to note that this width may not be exactly the width you see in the table when added to a VividChart slide deck or ServiceNow workspace. This is because you are able to change the container size in each of those locations. While the exact width may not be the same, the proportions of each column width will remain the same in those use cases.
Truncate Text
If your table includes long inputs of text, it may be desirable to use the text truncation feature to keep your table in the format you prefer. When applied, the cells adhere to the set width of a column, and any text beyond that width is hidden. Below is a simple example, the first image does not have it turned on, while the second image has applied text truncation.
Freezing a row
When you have created a table the is large enough that it requires a vertical scroll bar on your slide deck or workspace, you can freeze a row to keep some rows outside that scroll function.
When you select a row and use the 'Freeze Row' option, any row above the selected row will now be static and not scroll when the vertical scroll bar is present.
Freeze a column
When you have created a table the is large enough that it requires a horizontal scroll bar on your slide deck or workspace, you can freeze a column to keep some columns outside that scroll function.
When you select a column and use the 'Freeze Column' option, any column to the left of the selected column will now be static and not scroll when the horizontal scroll bar is present.
