Some details when creating charts in the Scaled Reports workflow

When you add charts to the canvas in the Scaled Report workflow, there's some special behavior that you don't encounter in other workflows. This is because in the Scaled Report mechanism, all charts regardless of which table they're drawn from, map back to a single record on the table that's defined as the parent table on the Scaled Report.

If you're drawing a chart that:

  1. Uses the parent table for the Scaled report and

  2. Is a chart that requires a record as a parameter (field selector chart for example)

The chart will inherit the record that's defined in the Scaled Reports Settings panel. This is so that while you're crafting the charts on your Scaled Report, what you see accurately represents the output that will be generated.

If you're drawing a chart that:

  1. Doesn't require a record as a parameter (bar chart selector for example)

A set of conditions will be applied to the chart automatically. This again is to ensure that what you see on the canvas while building accurately represents what will eventually be generated.

This message is reinforced in the light purple box on the Chart Options panel. If you'd like to see the applied conditions, click "View the Conditions".

These conditions are determined by setting in the Scaled Report Settings panel, so if you need to make changes, do so in the Scaled Reports Settings panel. Changes there will apply to any charts drawn on the canvas.
