Updating a Summary Template is simple and quick process that allows a Summary Template to be dynamic. Reporting needs can change over time and the ability to update a Summary Template provides users the ability to make those changes to a template without having to completely rebuild a Summary Template. This process is very similar to saving a new View as Summary Template. When updating a Summary Template always update your designated Master Summary Template so those changes will be reflected in all template reports utilizing your Master Summary Template.

Starting on the VividCharts homepage, select the collection where your Master Summary Template lives. For this example the Master Summary Template is in the 'Your Views' collection.

Locate the Master Template that you wish to update and click the pencil icon to take you to the editor page. This is where you have the ability to make the desired edits to the Master Template.

Once the desired edits have been made to the Master Summary Template and the Master Summary Template is ready to be updated, first simply click on the grey area outside of the template. This prompts the SAVE TEMPLATE button to appear in blue on the top left corner of the screen. Click SAVE TEMPLATE to continue. A recommend best practice is providing a title for the view with Master Template at the beginning of the view title. For this example the title is 'Master Template Project Status Report'.

This box will appear and simply click NEXT to continue the process of updating the Summary Template. We are updating a Summary Template so most of this options will have been filled in when the Summary Template was created.

The next box allows the user to select the process area where the Summary Template belongs. For this example a Project Status Report Master Template is being updated so it belongs in the Project process area. Once again, this should not need to be changed when updating a Summary Template as this was selected when the Summary Template was created. Click NEXT.

The next box shows the tables in ServiceNow that the charts in the Summary Template are utilizing. Unless you added additional charts that utilize a new table as a data source, this page just not need to be updated so simply click the blue NEXT button at the bottom right to continue the process.

This is where the view can be saved as a template or updated. Once again during the initial build of this Summary Template, a title, description, and a thumbnail image for the Summary Template are given. To update the Summary Template click the UPDATE button located at the bottom right.

Once the UPDATE button is selected, the user will be redirected back to the editor page with the recently updated Summary Template. Remain on this page until you see the Template saved successfully bar pop up at the top of the screen. It can take a few minutes for this Template saved successfully pop up to appear. Once his bar appears, the Summary Template has successfully been updated and saved. Then click the blue SAVE button located at the top right of the screen to maintain the template/view relationship.
