To build your own summary template, start by gathering a few items:
Be sure you have the VividCharts Admin and Builder roles
Gather any manually created reports that we will use to create a template
Select an example record to use as reference while building
Step 1: Create a new View
Step 2: Give your new View a relevant title.
Step 3: Create a field selector chart
For your Data Source, select the table based on the type of template you are creating. Here the some common process areas:
Project Status Hub
pm_project
project_status
Demand Review Hub
dmn_demand
Program Status Hub
pm_program
program_status
Portfolio Health Hub
pm_portfolio
Change Request
change_request
CAB Meeting
cab_meeting
Managed Service Provider Hub
core_company
Major Incident Hub
incident
Problem Review Hub
problem
Step 4: Fill out the Chart Options.
In this example, we are creating a field selector from the Problem table. So we are selecting a Problem record for the template "PRB0000001". This will be a single cell field selecor, so we have only added 1 row and 1 column. For the fields, we selected "number".
Step 5: Style the chart
In this example, we removed the title, change the Value Formatting by choosing Font size: 20px and Font style: bold, and removed the Cell Colors. Next, resize and position the chart.
Step 6: Create a Chart Template. Now that we have our desired styles set for this chart, let's make it into a chart template in order to keep styling consistent for any additional field selector charts we'd like to use on our template.
With the chart selected, click "SAVE AS CHART TEMPLATE"
Once clicked, the "Save as chart template" modal will appear. Follow these best practices to name your chart template:
Title: "PROCESS AREA" TEMPLATE - "CHART TYPE" - STYLE
Feature group: Select the feature group for the app you are building a template for
To allow for the chart template to be used by anyone within your instance, toggle ON
SAVE
Step 7: Use your chart template.
Go to Charts > Chart templates > then search for your newly created chart template. This chart will be placed on your slide in the same position where the original chart was saved. Select it, and move it to a new position. Once selected, click the data icon to edit the new chart's data.
Step 8: Keep building new charts and using chart templates to complete your template. Then move on to the next article to learn to create a summary template from your build.
