When editing the style options for charts, text, shapes, or images, you will be presented with the style menu option titled "Layers".

Layers define the order in which an element appears on the page.

Clicking the first icon will move the selected element behind all other elements on the slide.

"Send to back"

In the below example, the darkest blue shape is "behind" all other objects.

Clicking the second icon will move the selected item one layer back.

"Back one layer"

In the below example, the light grey shape has been moved one layer back; in between the dark blue and the light blue shapes.

Clicking the third icon will move the selected item forward one layer.

"Forward one layer"

In the below example, the grey shape has been moved forward one layer.

Clicking the fourth icon will move the selected item to the front of all other elements on the slide.

"Bring to font"

In the below example, the dark blue shape has been moved to the front of all shapes.
