Static filters are filters that run queries when the filter is first created and the subsequently during the overnight scheduled job. This can be useful when the filter is often being asked to query a lot of data that may affect the performance of a dynamic filter.

Step 1: To add a static filter to a View, the first step is to click on the "FILTERS" button in the upper right hand corner.

Step 2: You will notice categories for Slide Deck Filters or Slide Filters, for more information on these difference, check out the article on how to apply a filter to a chart, slide, or a slide-deck. For now, click "ADD FILTER".

Step 3: Filter Title - this title will be shown to users as they are interacting with the filter. In this example we are using "Assignment Group"

Step 4: Select filter type - Static

Step 5: Select filter type - Dropdown

  • The dropdown static filter automatically generates a dropdown that populates choices based on a specified field on a table. The choices are populated by the available values for the field present on the specified table.

After selecting your filter type, fill in the remaining required fields using the below example:

Step 6: SAVE the filter you have created and close out of the filter menu.

Step 7: In the upper right hand corner, SAVE and PUBLISH your View.

Step 8: In the upper right hand corner, click the VIEWER button.

Step 9: Click the FILTERS button to interact with your filter.

Step 10: Once a filter is applied to a chart, a filter icon will appear next to the chart. In the below example there is a filter being applied to each of the below charts.
