How to configure the Strategic Gantt chart for projects, project tasks and sub tasks.

The Gantt chart is a visual management tool that displays tasks, timelines and dependencies in a horizontal bar chart format. it helps teams track progress and deadlines, making sure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and meeting all requirements.

When you combine this Strategic Gantt configuration, with the capabilities of a VividCharts Scaled Report, you get a powerful tool for the management and communication of your projects.

Data Requirements:

  • Visualize the timeline of a single project, with all project tasks and sub tasks visualized

  • Indicate key milestones and milestones on the visual

  • The tasks should be ordered so that first tasks are at top and waterfall down and to the right based upon planned start date

  • Include the following fields for each record:

    • Project

      • Name

      • Task type

      • Planned Start Date

    • Project Task

      • Short Description

      • Task Type

      • Planned Start Date

    • Sub Tasks

      • Short Description

      • Planned Start Date

Design Requirements

  • Want to show the calendar year of 2025 (this year)

  • Header for month columns should be abbreviated, with some year indicator

  • A marker for the current day on the timeline should be present

  • Project tasks need some coloring so that they are visually separated

  • Colors of bars need to match brand colors

Delivery Requirements

  • Need ability to export to PowerPoint or PDF, so we can present to clients

  • Should be able to have multiple pages or slides on export, if the project has many tasks and subtasks.
